Chassis Baseplate design starts with a sketch, such as the one at left. Create it by laying out the components on the material selected as the base plate.
Layout the components to your taste and with the required spacing. Then mark the desired profile and mounting holes on the sketch,
Use the final sketch (as we did here) as a template. Tape it to the base material (we used 1/8” acrylic plastic sheet) and use the template it as a guide to cut and drill the plate.
Save the final template. It will be useful in production of additional chassis plates. It can also serve as the basis for a CAD/CAM design and production process, using a CNC milling machine
